Durham's Nazi Trash Program
The only bad thing I can say about Durham so far is the Nazi rules they have regarding trash pickup! They gave us this tiny little recycle bin. Hell...I can fill that up in a day, and it's a LAW that you have to recycle! What is this country coming to when you can't even throw your beer can out the window of your pickup truck? The following are some excerpts from the Durham Trash Nazi website:
The City provides weekly curbside collection of residential garbage. We accept only regular household waste. Please do not include any yard waste, household hazardous waste, or materials that must be recycled by law.
Place your garbage in plastic or paper bags and close them securely. Place the bags into the roll-out cart provided by the City. Roll the cart to the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. After your garbage is collected, return the cart to a location away from the street and curb. Extra bags or bulky items placed on the ground next to your garbage cart will not be collected.
To receive yard waste collection, a resident must purchase a brown 90-gallon yard waste cart from the City for $36 (on July 1, 2005, the price of a cart will increase to $40) and pay an annual fee of $60. Each customer may purchase a maximum of four carts. Yard waste will only be collected if one of the carts placed on the street has a current white yard waste sticker that is visible to the truck driver. Your yard waste is collected the same day as your garbage and recycling. Remember that State law prohibits yard waste from being mixed with regular household garbage.
The City Council passed an ordinance in 1997 that requires recycling of "target recyclables" and makes it unlawful to place them in garbage receptacles. The ordinance applies to all waste generators - residential, commercial, and industrial. "Target recyclables" are determined by the Solid Waste Management Department and currently include: Aluminum CansSteel CansGlass Bottles and JarsNewspaper Corrugated Cardboard The City also accepts other materials for recycling. Citizens who fail to recycle may face criminal or civil enforcement, and Transfer Station tipping fees may be doubled for garbage loads containing recyclables or other contaminants.

This is Antonio's 1st experience with a river. I guess he thought he could walk on water or something because as soon as he figured out it was wet he high tailed it out of there.
